Denny’s Grand Slam Days see huge success thanks to the Restaurant Teams and Community Members’ Participation and Dedication
VANCOUVER, BC (November, 2022) – For over 50 years, Denny’s, the beloved Canadian restaurant chain, has worked to impact the communities they are a part of for the better. This fall, Denny’s hosted its signature Grand Slam Day on October 13th raising over $10,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada and provided over 590 complimentary Grand Slams for Canadian Veterans on November 11th. Denny’s continues to look forward to future opportunities to serve the community.
“At Denny’s, we believe in being active members of the communities we serve,” says Deborah Gagnon, President & Chief Operating Officer of Denny’s Canada. “Our team works diligently connecting with our communities and working with our neighbours to raise funds and spirits for initiatives that impact real change. Grand Slam Day is a perfect example of money raised and complimentary meals shared, and we are so thankful to our team members, and our guests for being a part of these events”.
This past Remembrance Day, participating Denny’s stores across Canada served a fan-favourite menu item, the Original Grand Slam, complimentary to past and present military personnel. The Grand Slams were a thank-you for their service to Canada.
Continuing with the pursuit of serving the communities in which they are situated, participating Denny’s restaurants served Grand Slams for $3.99 of which $2.00 was donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada. Due to the generosity of everyone who visited, kids across Canada continue to be provided with the support and guidance they need to thrive. When a young person has an adult mentor in their corner, they’re more likely to finish school, have better mental health, and give back to society. The support provided by the funds raised allows for the tools to match, train, and assist mentors to help youth lead happier, healthier lives.
Denny’s is gearing up its annual fundraising in support of Pink Shirt Day to raise awareness for bullying prevention. Proceeds raised by the Denny’s community provides critical support to WITS and CKNW Kids Fund.
“Denny’s has made a huge difference in our efforts to empower Canadian kids via the WITS Programs and our ‘Pink Shirt Day Canada’ broadcast,” said Andy Telfer, Executive Director of the WITS Programs Foundation. “With help from our generous partners like Denny’s Restaurants, we are inspiring thousands of children and youth to be kind and stand up for others, no matter who they are. That’s what Pink Shirt Day is all about.”
Denny’s is proud of all the work the team at every single Denny’s restaurant has done to reach out to the community and help it be the best it can be. Learn more about Denny’s commitment to corporate social responsibility here: https://www.dennys.ca/promotions/community/
